Students transferring courses to NMSU should request that the registrar at the institution where the course was completed send official transcripts directly to the NMSU Registrar’s Office. Questions about course equivalency can be answered through the NMSU Transfer Equivalency Guide .

Transfer Courses

  Course Content & Prerequisites

  Transfer credit toward core courses (defined by the NMSU College of Engineering as “required departmental, discipline‑related courses within the major”) must be similar in both the content covered and the prerequisite requirements.

  ABET Accreditation

  The transfer course must be part of an ABET‑accredited engineering program.

  Proctored Examinations

  All examinations in the transfer course must be proctored.

  Department Head Approval

  Written approval must be obtained from your Department Head BEFORE enrolling in the course.

To formally request approval to transfer a core course from another institution, complete the Engineering Transfer Course Request Form .

In addition to these requirements, the course must conform to the transfer course policy of the NMSU College of Engineering .
