Engineering Ambassador Program

The NMSU College of Engineering Ambassador program provides undergraduate students with opportunities to gain leadership skills, deepen their knowledge and understanding of local, state, national, and global challenges, and expand personal and professional growth. 

Engineering Ambassadors provide support for activities related to recruiting, retention, outreach, and most importantly, student success. Ambassadors provide campus tours to prospective students and the broader NMSU community, serve as representatives of the  NMSU College of Engineering and the E3 Initiative, engage in leadership discussions and relevant tours for and with industry and government agencies, and perform duties at various campus and community events.

Responsibilities: 

  • Represent NMSU College of Engineering, your respective department, and the E3 Program
  • Welcome new and prospective students
  • Conduct campus tours for visiting students
  • Develop relationships within the community to recruit future NMSU Engineers
  • Establish a leadership role and presence within the College
  • Create a positive student-centric atmosphere across the College of Engineering
  • Promote the E3 Initiative program to current NMSU students 
  • Serve a minimum of 20 hours in various outreach and recruitment capacities including required events
  • Conduct a minimum of 2 school visits per semester

Requirements:

  1. Must be a full-time undergraduate engineering student enrolled in a degree-seeking program
  2. Must complete an E3 Initiative Program leadership program. 
  3. Must have completed a minimum of two semesters at NMSU
  4. Must be in good standing academically and maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress standards
  5. Must have and maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA each term 
  6. Must be enrolled in 1 credit hour Ambassador Class (ENG 398) each semester
  7. Complete a minimum of 20 service hours per semester in support of the College-wide outreach and recruitment
