Ron Seidel Engineering Leadership Institute

Engineering today is a team-based, multidisciplinary endeavor that requires skills beyond technical abilities, but also the ability to work with diverse groups of people, communicate effectively and develop entrepreneurial skills. New Mexico State University’s College of Engineering will help students develop those essential “soft skills” with the launch of the Ron Seidel Engineering Leadership Institute.

Effective leadership requires a set of inter-related skills and characteristics. The purpose of the Ron Seidel Engineering Leadership Institute is to enhance students’ cognitive, interpersonal and intrapersonal skills through a series of self-paced, structured and accessible interdisciplinary workshops, dialogues and experiential opportunities. The program's philosophy is based on the development of the skills essential for success and leadership depicted in the diagram below.
