Guide and Mentor Students as a Career Navigator
Would you like to be part of a peer support network to help first-year students navigate potential barriers to their academic success?
Apply to be a Career Navigator by Aug. 30 if...
- You are a computer science or engineering major in at least your third or fourth year of college at NMSU.
- You want to become a mentor to first-year students by sharing what you wish you had known and telling your story.
Commitment:
- Complete approximately 10-12 mentoring hours per month to two, first-year students in majors similar to yours for two semesters (Fall 2024 & Spring 2025). Students and Navigators will be matched by program administrators.
- Complete Career Navigator orientation training, Sept. 12 at 5:30 p.m., or Sept. 13 at 12:00 p.m. Locations to be announced.
Introduce new students to resources and opportunities:
- tutoring
- student organizations
- self-development workshops
- research experiences
- career pathways
- study groups
Benefits:
