Norman Armendariz, D.Eng, '97

Norman J. Armendariz, Ph.D., has over 27 years of industrial experience and, most recently, has served as a Test Engineering Manager for Texas Instruments for the past 7 years. Armendariz received his Interdisciplinary Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from New Mexico State University in 1997, his M.S. in Materials Science Engineering from the University of Illinois–Urbana‑Champaign in 1987, and his B.S. in Metallurgical Engineering Technology from Colorado State University–Pueblo in 1983.

He enrolled in the NMSU Interdisciplinary Engineering Ph.D. program in 1990, sponsored by the NMSU Chemical Engineering and Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology departments and the NMSU Space Grant Consortium, with support from a Cerprobe / SEMATECH industry consortium focused on enabling U.S. competitiveness in the semiconductor equipment and manufacturing industries.

Dr. Armendariz holds 6 U.S. patents and 24 peer‑reviewed industry publications. He is also an active member of the SMTA – Surface Mount Technology Association, IEEE‑ASM/EDFAS – Electronic Device Failure Analysis Society, the NMSU Chemical Engineering Department Alumni Academy, ISMI – International SEMATECH Manufacturing Initiative Probe Council, and a life member of SACNAS — the Society for the Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science.
