George K. Petty

George K. Petty served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of TELUS. Before leading TELUS, he built a distinguished 25‑year career with AT&T, serving in roles including Vice President of Global Business Services and Chairman of the Board of World Partners, the Global Telecom Alliance. He also held the position of Vice President, Western Region, contributing to operations, planning, marketing, and sales.

George earned his B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from New Mexico State University, where he was recognized as a College of Engineering Distinguished Alumnus and one of the university’s 100 outstanding alumni. He later completed the Harvard Advanced Management Program.

After graduating from NMSU, George served in the U.S. Air Force for four years, earning the Air Force Commendation Medal twice and the National Defense Service Medal. His dedication to education and industry continued through his service as a Director of CAE, Inc. and Research Technology Management, Inc. at the University of Alberta. He also served on the Board of Governors at the University of Calgary and was involved with the Business Council of British Columbia (BCBC) and the Business Council on National Issues (BCNI).
