Ronald Dean Parriott passed away in Comfort Care on Friday, April 25th at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, CA with his wife Martha and daughters Terri and Carley at his side.
Ron was admired by colleagues and friends for his incredible engineering expertise and creativity in solving complex challenges. He held various engineering positions during his career, including work on a nuclear power plant project in California, an electrical power plant in El Paso, Texas, a defense contracting firm in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and roles in gold and copper mines in Utah, New Mexico, Chile and South Africa. He started his own consulting business after retiring from full-time employment, continuing to work until age 80.
Ron was a devoted father to his children Terri (Parriott) Craig, Craig Parriott, and Carley Parriott, and welcomed Terri’s husband Curtis into the family in 1988. In 1998, Ron married Martha Crummey Spaulding, becoming a loving stepfather to Bryan Spaulding and his wife Pam, and Jeff Spaulding and his wife Elizabeth. He delighted in his seven grandchildren and encouraged their curiosity about the world. His interests included sailing, photography, genealogy, backpacking, hiking, motorcycle riding, geocaching, and travel.
Despite undergoing two back surgeries in his later years, Ron remained active in mind and spirit. He was appreciated by the staff at John Muir Medical Center for his friendly demeanor during his final days. His presence will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Ron’s memory to the Wounded Warriors Project.
