In memoriam: Joseph Alexander Lapoint

Joseph Alexander Lapoint, Jr. of Parker, Colorado died peacefully on Sunday, April 16, 2023 at the age of 84 years. He was born July 18, 1938 in Las Cruces, New Mexico to his parents Joseph and Angelita. He served overseas in the US Navy, and then went on to earn a degree in electrical engineering at New Mexico State University.

In addition to completing a long engineering career in southern California, he served as a volunteer mentor and educator for various youth and nature organizations throughout his life. He loved travel, bird watching, and coin collecting. He was an avid reader and lifelong learner who always expressed an eager curiosity about the world around him. He was a role model as a son, husband, father, and grandfather. He will be remembered for his kind, selfless demeanor, commitment to his family and the larger community, and ability to make others laugh with his playful sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sharon, and their two sons and their families; Kevin (Mike) and Greg (Cheryl) as well as two grandchildren.

There will be a small, informal service for immediate family members only.
