As part of National Engineering Week, the New Mexico State University College of Engineering’s Office of Outreach and Recruiting will host a career night for high school students and their families with Sandia National Laboratories at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23 at Jett Hall, Room 259, on the Las Cruces campus.
“We are hosting this particular event as an opportunity for high school junior and senior students and their families to come and meet with the Sandia representatives and learn more about the career pathways,” said Patricia Sullivan, College of Engineering associate dean of recruitment and outreach. “Sandia is a key employer partner with the College of Engineering, and we are pleased to provide this career development opportunity to students from high schools across Doña Ana County.”
Representatives will be on campus to discuss New Mexico-based careers at Sandia National Laboratories. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet directly with laboratory personnel and executives.
“This opportunity is important as it highlights New Mexico-based jobs for students,” said Clara Raley, STEM program manager at NMSU. “Many students believe that in order to be an engineer or scientist they have to leave, and Sandia National Laboratories is here to talk about how you can impact the world from right here in New Mexico. Students will learn what working at Sandia National Laboratories is like directly from laboratory personnel and executives, and gain a new passion for pursuing STEM careers.”
