In memoriam: Donald Franklin Green

Don was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee to Frank Green and Marion Moore Green. He died at the age of 86 after a brief illness with family at his bedside.Don met his lifelong love and partner, Katharine Conklin Green while completing his degree in Civil Engineering at New Mexico State University. They married and quickly had three children, Debbie, Laura and Stephen. During his career the whole family lived in numerous states and abroad, and at one time becoming one of the first families to join the Peace Corp, living in Ghana, West Africa. He settled in the East Bay, living there for 50+ years. He loved teaching and had a passion for learning, becoming an avid learner of the "Great Courses" in his later years. He was known for his integrity, dependability, quiet humor, and his commitment to family. His grandchildren and great grandchildren bought him great joy. Don is survived by his two adult daughters, Katharine Deborah Jones, Laura Leslie Green, son in law, Tom, grandson, Ross Jones, granddaughter, Katelynn Barthelmes, great granddaughter, Kennedy Jones and soon to come, great grandson Michael Jr. Barthelmes. He is preceded in death by his wife, Katharine and son, Stephen He will be missed tremendously. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
