NMSU ranks as a national top tier university

For a decade, New Mexico State University has been recognized as a top tier university on the U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings.

On the 2023 National Universities list, NMSU tied for 263 with Montana State University, Sam Houston State University, University of Memphis, University of Missouri-Kansas City and University of Nevada, Reno, among others.

NMSU also was listed on the top performers on social mobility ranking (tied for 105) and top public schools ranking (tied for 132). NMSU’s rankings improved in both the undergraduate nursing programs (tied for 112) and undergraduate engineering programs (tied for 123).

Additionally, NMSU was listed on the undergraduate computer science programs (tied for 172) and undergraduate business programs (tied for 247). The methodology for the U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings is based on outcomes (40 percent), faculty resources (20 percent), expert opinion (20 percent), financial resources (10 percent), student excellence (seven percent) and alumni giving (three percent).
