New Mexico State University was recognized by Forbes as one of America’s Best Employers for Veterans 2021. As the highest-ranking employer in the state, NMSU ranks No. 93 on the list of the top 200 businesses and organizations in the country. “Being recognized by a national organization like Forbes magazine as one of the Best Employers For Veterans 2021 truly demonstrates NMSU’s commitment and support of equity, inclusion and diversity,” said Gena Jones, assistant vice president for Human Resources. “What better way to honor our men and women who work to protect our country than to provide them a work and educational environment that appreciates and celebrates their military achievement. We are proud of our veterans.” In a survey done by Statista, more than 5,000 veterans in businesses with more than 1,000 employees were asked to evaluate their working conditions and how veteran friendly their employers were, as well as rank other employers in the same industry. “It does not surprise me that we were ranked on this list since we offer many services that support our student veterans on campus,” said Hector Sanchez, director of Military and Veterans Programs. “We offer our veterans a dedicated space in the form of a computer lab and lounge areas. Our office is a one-stop shop for student veterans submitting Veterans Affairs benefits certifications to help pay their tuition and fees. NMSU also sponsors many events and activities to promote and recognize our students, staff and faculty that are veterans on campus such as our Military and Veterans Appreciation Week in the fall and Bataan Week in the spring.” To view the entire list, visit https://www.forbes.com/lists/best-employers-for-veterans/#2faeffc23606.
