On Monday, January 28, the College of Engineering at New Mexico State University held a ribbon cutting ceremony to dedicate the Engineering Technology student lounge to Dr. Jeffrey Beasley and his family.

Beasley served NMSU for almost 40 years as a professional engineer, professor and department head in the College of Engineering. He also earned five degrees at NMSU ranging from journalism and mass communications to a Ph.D. in electrical engineering.

Lakshmi Reddi, dean of engineering, said support from Dr. Beasley and his wife is familiar to NMSU.

“Jeff and Kim have an impressive history of investing in NMSU students and programs, with nearly 500 gifts and pledges made over a 40 year period,” Reddi said.

The ceremony included a packed room full of former students and colleagues who shared their accounts of the many ways in which Jeff’s humble yet thorough pursuit of excellence enriched their lives.

Aside from a renovation, Beasley and his family gave the lounge a wooden plaque that reads “Nana and Papa’s Corner” and an art piece from his father, which are in honor of his parents, Margaret and Harlan Beasley.

The Beasley Lounge is located in the Ed and Harold Forman Engineering Complex 3, Room 134.
