Eloy Torrez, BSEE, '70
Torrez is president of SEI Group, Inc., which has been listed in the Hispanic Business Magazine 500 annually since 2001 and has been recognized as the second fastest-growing Hispanic-owned business. Founded in 1996, SEI provides engineering, construction, facility operations and maintenance, energy saving and security technologies to the Department of Defense and other federal agencies.
Torrez, who grew up in Hondo, NM, earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from NMSU in 1970 and a master’s degree in engineering from UCLA in 1976. He is a member of the Klipsch School of Electrical and Computer Engineering Academy, serving as vice president in 2007 and president in 2008. He also was named one of 100 Outstanding Alumni for the NMSU College of Engineering Centennial in 1988. In 2009, he was a speaker in the Verge Entrepreneurship Lecture Series. Additionally, Torrez has been a long-time supporter of the college.
