George K. Petty
George K. Petty served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of TELUS. Before leading TELUS, George had a distinguished 25-year career with AT&T, where he served in various capacities, including Vice President of Global Business Services and Chairman of the Board of World Partners, the Global Telecom Alliance. He also held the position of Vice President, in the Western Region, and was involved in operations, planning, marketing, and sales.
George earned his B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from New Mexico State University (NMSU), where he was recognized as a College of Engineering Distinguished Alumnus and one of the university’s 100 outstanding alumni. He furthered his education by completing the Harvard Advanced Management Program.
After graduating from NMSU, George served in the U.S. Air Force for four years, during which he was twice awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. His commitment to education and industry was evident through his roles as a Director of CAE, Inc. and Research Technology Management, Inc. at the University of Alberta. Additionally, he served on the Board of Governors at the University of Calgary and was involved with the Business Council of British Columbia (BCBC) and the Business Council on National Issues (BCNI).
