Benjamin M. Boykin

Benjamin M. Boykin attended Las Cruces Union High School and graduated from New Mexico State University (NMSU) in 1952 with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. During his time at NMSU, he was an active member of the Klipsch Electrical and Computer Engineering Academy.
After graduating, Boykin served in the United States Air Force as a Second Lieutenant and pilot, flying the F-86F Sabre Jet. He continued his service in the USAF Reserve, retiring as a Major after more than 28 years in 1982.
Boykin had a distinguished engineering career, holding positions as Supervisor, Manager, and Project Manager on the Apollo Program. He served as the Test Site Project Engineer for NAA/Rockwell at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston, where he oversaw the manned Thermal Vacuum Program in the NASA Thermal Vacuum Chamber. He later became a Manager of the Project Engineering organization on Apollo before transitioning to a similar role on the Space Shuttle Program.
In 1994, Boykin returned to his hometown of Las Cruces, New Mexico, where he became the Program Manager responsible for the maintenance and operations of the NASA White Sands Test Facility.
