A safety specialist in NMSU’s College of Engineering, Juanita Miller has worked at NMSU for three years. An alumnae, she earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering in 1986. After working in the Dallas, Texas, area and earning a master’s degree in civil/environmental engineering from the University of Texas-Arlington, Miller, who holds four U.S. patents, returned to NMSU with a goal to build a strong safety culture.
“I work heavily with graduate and faculty researchers to review the safety of their experiments and give technical advice where appropriate. I am currently developing online awareness safety classes that supplement the in-person training provided by myself and the NMSU EHS Department,” she said. “My favorite aspect of my job is working with the people here at NMSU. The students are always engaging and the faculty and staff are a pleasure.”
