NMSU recognizes researchers who generate funding of $500,000 or more

New Mexico State University President Garrey Carruthers and Vice President for Research Vimal Chaitanya recognized university faculty members and staff in December who have generated $500,000 or more in research funding during the past fiscal year, 2013.

“These top staff and faculty researchers are leading the university’s efforts to attract vital funding for critical research projects,” Chaitanya said. “I appreciate their excellent work and am pleased that we are able to recognize their efforts.”

Among those honored were several College of Engineering faculty members:


  • Abbas Ghassemi, Waste Management Education and Resources Consortium
  • Russell Hardy, CA Environmental Monitoring and Resources Center
  • David Jauregui, Civil and Geological Engineering


  • Charles Creusere, Klipsch School of Electrical and Computer Engineering
  • Ruinian Jiang, Engineering Technology
  • Andrew Rosenthal, Klipsch School of Electrical and Computer Engineering
