Elena Fernandez, of the Department of Engineering Technology and Surveying Engineering, has received a 2009 APEX Award for Publication Excellence. Fernandez’ work on the 2008 Texas and Four Corners Sections American Physical Society Joint Meeting won the award in the Meeting and Event Campaigns, Programs and Plans category.
The APEX annual awards recognize excellence in publications work by communications professionals. Fernandez’ award has been published in the 2009 edition of Writing that Works-The Business Communications Report: Winners List/ and is listed at www.apexawards.com.
APEX Awards are given to communications professionals around the globe and are based on excellence in graphic design, editorial content and the ability to achieve overall communications effectiveness and excellence. This year, there were nearly 3,785 entries.
Fernandez has previously received two APEX Awards for Publication Excellence. In 2007, she was recognized for “Most Improved Web and Intranet Site” for the NMSU Department of Physics website (http://physics.nmsu.edu). In 2008, her poster, “Great Ideas in Physics,” was awarded in the category Calendars, Posters and Certificates.
Fernandez is an alum of New Mexico State University with a bachelor’s degree in philosophy. She is a specialist (design and outreach) for the Department of Engineering Technology and Surveying Engineering and has recently redesigned the College of Health and Social Services website (http://www.chss.nmsu.edu/).
