In memoriam: Robert L. “Bob” Gasperetti

LIMA — Robert L. “Bob” Gasperetti, age 94, was called home to the Lord at 11:45 am Wednesday, February 17, 2021, at Lima Memorial Health System with his family by his side.

Bob was born May 29, 1926 in Carbondale, PA, to the late Charles L. and Perina (Bartolussi) Gasperetti. On October 2, 1954, he married Mary Jane (Hoffman) Gasperetti who preceded him in death on November 12, 2007.

Bob was a 1944 graduate of Raton High School in New Mexico and he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from New Mexico State University. Bob proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II, having served with the Seabees in Guam. He retired from Westinghouse in 1988 after 37 years of service. He worked as an Electrical Engineer, serving on the Westinghouse team that developed electrical systems for the NASA Apollo Missions, as well as many other accomplishments in the Aerospace industry. Bob had many passions in life, he enjoyed golf, fishing, poker and photography, but his greatest passion was his family. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who was especially proud of his children and grandchildren. Bob was a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church, The Holy Name Society and B.P.O.E. Elks #54.

He is survived by three children, Charles L. (Tina) Gasperetti of Lima, Ann M. (Bernie) Butscha of Cincinnati and John A. Gasperetti of Aspen, CO; 4 grandchildren, Robert Gasperetti of Cincinnati, Michael Gasperetti of Dallas, TX, Kristen Gasperetti of Cincinnati, Sarah (Joe) Krumel of Cincinnati; 2 sisters, Joanne (Ray) Spencer of Bossier City, LA, Charlene Baker of Prescott, AZ and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 am Monday, February 22, 2021, at St. Gerard Catholic Church, 240 W. Robb Ave., Lima, Ohio 45801. Father Mike Sergi will officiate the service. Entombment will follow in Gethsemani Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Navy and the VFW #1275.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 8:00 pm Sunday, February 21, at CHILES -LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL.
