Solar Power Systems for Homeowners Workshop set for July 27 at NMSU

A solar power system can be a reliable electricity source for your home. If you are a homeowner who needs a starting point or more information, the College of Engineering at New Mexico State University is offering a Solar Power Systems for Homeowners Workshop, July 27, as part of its engineering extension and outreach services, in partnership with the Las Cruces Green Chamber of Commerce and the American Solar Energy Society.

During the workshop, homeowners will learn how a solar power system can reduce power bills while generating clean electricity. In addition, attendees will learn how solar power systems work, what size of system they need, and how they can save money with the system.

Workshop instructors include solar professionals from NMSU and the local solar industry. Robert Foster, affiliated NMSU solar energy engineer and retired international solar energy programs manager, will lead the workshop. He has more than 35 years of experience with thousands of solar projects in more than 40 countries. Homeowners will also learn from John Wiles, NMSU photovoltaic research engineer and American Solar Energy Society Fellow; Luis Estrada, utility engineer at Public Service Company of New Mexico; Carey Lane, owner and general manager of Energy Concepts; and Corey Asbill, co-owner of Organ Mountain Solar and Electric.
