The week of Feb. 16-21 was National Engineers Week with the theme Pioneers of Progress. That theme was front and center during the week’s activities planned and implemented by our Engineers Council and student organizations. They greeted potential future Aggie Engineers showing the exciting things our college has to offer and giving them a warm welcome, as well as inviting the community to see our facilities and projects. From robots serving tacos to screening of Hidden Figures to a lecture given by Spaceport America CEO and NMSU engineering alum Dan Hicks, E-Week was full of activities showing the best of our college. We also had our Advisory Board meeting during the E-Week. We are blessed to have some of our outstanding alumni and industry representatives take time off to be with us for couple of days to provide their invaluable perspectives in strategic discussions on the direction of the college. The culmination of the E-Week was the College of Engineering Third Annual Faculty and Staff Awards Banquet, which President John Floros joined in the celebration. It makes me very happy to recognize our faculty and staff accomplishments and contributions toward success of the college every spring. This year’s awardees well deserving of recognition and serve as outstanding examples of our faculty and staff.
