Looking for a fulfilling paid summer internship? Well, look no further. The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (JHU/APL) in Laurel, Maryland is seeking full-time undergraduate and graduate STEM students to help make critical contributions to the national security, space exploration, and national health challenges faced by our nation. As a part of the APL Technology Leadership Scholars (ATLAS) Internship Program you will gain practical career experience, develop personally and professionally, grow your network, and potentially transition into a full-time career at JHU/APL.

Technical Opportunities include (but are not limited to):

Aeronautics, artificial intelligence, communications engineering, control systems, defense systems testing and evaluation, hardware design, cybersecurity, health systems, network/communications engineering, material science, modeling and simulation, reverse engineering, robotics and autonomy, signal processing, software engineering, space physics, and systems engineering/analysis.

Application Criteria

  • Attending a Historically Black College or University (HBCU), Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI), or other Minority Serving Institution (MSI)
  • Currently enrolled full-time in a bachelor’s, master’s, or Ph.D. program 
  • Majoring in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) field
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
  • Have U.S. citizenship
