New Mexico WRRI’s 63rd annual New Mexico Water Conference to be held Oct. 17-18

The 63rd annual New Mexico Water Conference will take place Oct. 17-18 at the Las Cruces Convention Center. The registration fee for students is only $25, which includes two lunches. We are expecting 250-300 participants this year.

This year’s theme is “At the Tipping Point: Water Scarcity, Science and Policy.” We have a diverse group of water experts who will address a host of important and timely water issues such as agriculture and groundwater use, climate change, drought, fire, economics, adjudications and settlements, alternative water supplies and regional and state water planning.

Several NMSU speakers are on the program: Sam Fernald, Jim Peach, Luis Cifuentes, Amy Ganguli, Phil King and Pei Xu.

A field trip to the Hatch and Mesilla Valley will take place Oct. 16.

The two conference luncheons include speakers, and a poster session will highlight nearly 60 research projects, many presented by university students from across New Mexico.

The registration fee for the conference is only $95 before Oct. 10. Students can attend for $25, and students with accepted posters will not be charged a registration fee.
