Sociedad de Ingenieros

This Society was established on the campus of New Mexico State University on December 12, 1989. The Society was formed by the founding membership, University President James Halligan, Dean J. Derald Morgan, Associate Dean J. Eldon Steelman, Assistant Dean Joe L. Creed, and Department Heads Geogre D. Alexander, Robinton K. Bhada, Satish J. Kamat,

Larryl K. Matthews, M. Don Merrill, George Mulholland, and Kenneth R. White. The Society was established to give recognition to each new graduate of the College of Engineering prior to commencement. The ceremony is conducted prior to commencement with all graduates, their families and guests invited to attend.

Each new graduate is invited to become a member; there is no other requirement for membership other than successfully completing an engineering degree program and qualifying for a degree. Each graduate who attends the ceremony is recognized by their department head and dean with a certificate of membership in the Society.
