Integrated EEG and Brain Mapping for Brain-Machine Interfaces in Security Monitoring (modification)

Dr. Kwong T. Ng, Electrical and Computer Engineering; Dr. James K. Kroger, Psychology
Los Alamos National Laboratory
Increase of $27,376 (modification), total award of $54,851

Recent security developments have altered the landscape of objectives for agencies involved in maintaining homeland security. Emerging threats, including domestic terrorist activities, depend on avoiding detection. This has increased the importance of improving security monitoring; however, the volume of data is far outstripping the ability of operators available to monitor the data. This research will be used to aid operators in detecting potentially harmful objects as well as permitting real-time monitoring of operator attentiveness and performance. This project has been awarded $54,852. James K. Kroger and Kwong T. Ng will be the New Mexico State University Principal Investigators, and Krastan B. Blagoev and John S. George will be the Los Alamos National Laboratories Principal Investigators.
