Research Centers

• Center for Space Telemetering and Telecommunications Systems
  NMSU was designated as a Telemetering Center of Excellence by the International Foundation for Telemetering to conduct the study of telemetry systems, advanced communications, advanced modulation, coding, data transport and equalization techniques.
• Institute for Energy and the Environment (IEE)
  The Institute for Energy and the Environment is a multidisciplinary research organization focusing on issues related to energy, water and the environment. Combining the resources of the Carlsbad Environmental Monitoring and Research Center, the Southwest Technology Development Institute, and the WERC Consortium for Environmental Education and Technology Development, IEE activities encompass research, analytical services, technology development and deployment, and dissemination of information through public outreach.
  • Carlsbad Environmental Monitoring & Research Center (CEMRC)
    Established in 1991, CEMRC conducts environmental research, provides specialized analytical services and technology development, and disseminates information for federal, state and private sponsors.
  • Southwest Technology Development Institute (SWTDI)
    The Southwest Technology Development Institute was established in 1977 as an applied research and development center for renewable energy technologies. It is today recognized for its engineering research in energy and environmental systems.
  • WERC: A Consortium for Environmental Education and Technology Development
    WERC’s mission is to develop human resources and technologies to address environmental and human-health related issues through education, public outreach, and technology development and deployment.
• Manufacturing Technology and Engineering Center (M-TEC)
  M-TEC supports economic development in New Mexico by providing quality education, engineering technical and other extension services to constituents both internal to NMSU as well as throughout the state.
