PREP - Prefreshman Engineering Program

Las Cruces Pre-freshman Engineering Program (PREP) is administered by the College of Engineering at New Mexico State University in collaboration with WERC: A Consortium of Environmental Education and Technology Development.  PREP is a unique and challenging program that opens the doors of discovery and opportunity to middle and high school students in Dona Ana County. The seven-week, academically intense, summer program is designed to expose students to careers in science, engineering and mathematics.  The students are exposed to a variety of learning experiences from classroom instruction, guest lectures, hands-on experiments and field trips that are designed to excite, stimulate and prepare them for the rapidly changing technological and engineering world.  Courses include logic, algebraic structures and physics.  In addition, students are involved in problem-solving sessions that equip them with the necessary tools and desire to complete pre-calculus and calculus courses in high school.  Over 90 percent of students that have participated in PREP since the program's inception have gone on to pursue higher education.  For additional information on the PREP program, contact:
