Civil engineers to present Ethics for Engineers class

The Department of Civil Engineering at New Mexico State University will present a class entitled, "Ethics for Engineers," on Thurs. Nov. 19 from 3-5 pm in Room 240B Hernandez Hall (EC II).

This course is intended to review and reinforce the ethical performance of standards expected of Professional Engineers in the practice of their profession.  Two Ethics Professional Development Hours will be awarded to participants completing this course. Proceeds from this course will support local professional activities for students.

Following is the course agenda:

  • 3:00-3:30--Review the Code of Ethics ASCE

  • 3:30-4:00--Overview of the ASCE “Guiding Principles for the Nation’s Critical Infrastructure."  This is a new publication on the ethical, sustainable development of important infrastructure resources.

  • 4:00-4:30--Directed discussion of sustainable infrastructure projects development in Southern NM.

  • 4:30-5:00--Audience directed discussion of sustainable infrastructure projects.

  • 5:00--Closure and Award of PDH Certificates.

The cost is $50 to the public and is free to NMSU faculty members.
