In Memoriam: Eugene M. “Gene” Dale

Eugene M. “Gene” Dale, 85, of Tularosa, N. M. died Wednesday, August 5 at his home.

Mr. Dale was born Oct. 29, 1923 in Rogers, Ark. to Eugene and Anna Browning Dale. He attended Western New Mexico University before enlisting in the U.S. Navy. Following World War II he attended New Mexico State University and graduated with a bachelor of science in chemical engineering. He worked for Dow Chemical in Midland and Ludington before retiring in 1974. He then became a certified nutritionist, a career from which he never retired.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years Allene “Suzy” Dale; four daughters, Linda Carol (Dave) Williams of Lansing, Juliana Witte of Orlando, Fla., Jo Lynn (Max) Hanley Las Cruces, N.M. and Jill (Dale) Deller of Donald, Ore.; four sons, Eugene Meloan (Nancy) Dale III of Sugarland, Texas, David Michael (Seferina) Dale Cornelius, Ore., James Allen (Maria Louisa) Dale of Depoe Bay, Ore., and Jonathan Hugh (Michelle) Dale of Winsboro, Texas; 27 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, August 9 at the Tularosa Church of Christ with Matt Carrell officiating. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery in Tularosa.
