McDSP Celebrates 10 Years of Excellence
Mountain View, CA, October 7, 2008 – It’s October of 2008 and that means it’s time to celebrate all that green on your screen! Founded by Colin McDowell in 1998, McDSP celebrates 10 years of excellence in the pro audio industry. As one of the “oldest” plug-in manufacturers in the industry, McDSP was started to meet the demand for better quality audio processing on the Pro Tools platform, with the added flexibility that could only exist in software. McDowell is an alum of the NMSU College of Engineering.
McDSP’s high quality products are represented in Pro Tools sessions all around the world! Beginning with FilterBank in 1998, McDSP then released CompressorBank, MC2000, Analog Channel, Synthesizer One, Chrome Tone, Channel G, Revolver and ML4000. New for 2008, McDSP released the DE555 de-esser, FutzBox lo-fi distortion effects, and NF575 noise filter to round out the McDSP plug-in product line. Platform support continues to grow with support for Pro Tools on Windows, and the new Digidesign live sound consoles.
Under McDowell’s direction, McDSP has earned many industry awards including four TEC Award nominations (2001 – MC2000, 2002 – Analog Channel, 2005 – Channel G, 2007 – ML4000), an EQ Magazine Blue Ribbon Award (1999 - FilterBank and CompressorBank), a Pro Audio Review PAR Excellence Award (2006 - Revolver), and an Electronic Musician Editor’s Choice Award (2007 – Project Studio Bundle).
Today, McDSP’s products are found in nearly every Pro Tools session, and session compatibility without McDSP is nearly impossible. FilterBank, the first McDSP plug-in for Pro Tools, is still widely used today. In addition to McDSP’s reputation for making high quality audio products, McDSP has a stellar customer support reputation, and an unbelievable update program - no update fees have been charged in 10 years!
As McDSP continues to grow, McDowell says, “It is a great time to be in the digital audio space, and we’re glad to keep providing the products and support our professional customer base demands and deserves.”
