NMSU expands mental health resources through TimelyCare

New Mexico State University has partnered with TimelyCare, a virtual health and well-being provider, to offer students free and equitable access to healthcare resources ranging from mental health support to medical care.

The partnership is an extension of Aggie Health and Wellness Center resources, with a goal of improving student well-being, engagement and retention.

“We are extremely excited to embark on a journey where student health care meets convenience and innovation. Providing telehealth services will allow NMSU to better meet the health care needs of Aggies by providing accessible, confidential, cost-effective and convenient medical care, as well as supporting their mental health and wellness throughout their academic journey,” said Ann Goodman, dean of students.

Through TimelyCare on their phone or other device, NMSU students can now select from a wide-ranging menu of virtual care options from licensed physicians and counselors in all 50 states – at no cost and without the barrier of traditional insurance – including on-demand and appointment-based medical care; on-demand mental health and emotional support with TalkNow; appointment-based mental health counseling; psychiatric support; health coaching; care navigation; peer support community; digital self-care content; and more.

NMSU faculty and staff have access to support that empowers them to guide students to TimelyCare resources to help students achieve a sense of well-being, live healthier lifestyles and improve their mental health.

“Over the past few years, we have learned a lot about our student body population and their wants and needs related to medical and mental health services. This delivery model is going to increase the availability of services that students might not otherwise seek,” said Amanda Blair, Aggie Health and Wellness Center assistant director.

The partnership with TimelyCare allows NMSU to deliver a hybrid model of care in collaboration with on-campus resources. Benefits to students include 24/7 care, reduced wait times and a diverse provider network.

“When it comes to supporting student outcomes, the need for equitable, on-demand access to care has never been more important. TimelyCare enables colleges and universities to expand on-campus resources and transform the way students receive care through agency, speed and freedom of choice that they’ve come to expect in their everyday lives,” said Luke Hejl, TimelyCare CEO and co-founder. “TimelyCare is proud to serve as an extension of NMSU’s Aggie Health and Wellness Center resources to create a comprehensive, whole-student care solution that empowers students to seek care in a way that feels comfortable and convenient for them.”
