New Mexico State University’s College of Engineering will host the New Mexico Transportation and Construction Conference April 18-20. The NM TransCon Conference is designed for professional engineers and others involved in the transportation, construction or other civil engineering industries to receive information on the latest industry trends and technologies.

The sessions encompass a range of transportation and construction topics. Some of the sessions to be held include discussions on “Urban Development: Putting the Pieces Together,” “NMDOT Planning and Asset Management Projects,” “Dust Storm Mitigation,” “Utilization of GIS Data in Planning and Preliminary Design” and “Engineering Ethics.” There also will be an update on new technology and research trends in the industry.

Chip Espinoza, director of the Organizational Psychology program at Concordia University Irvine, will serve as this year’s NM TransCon keynote speaker. He has spoken to national and international audiences on how to create an environment in which managers and millennials can thrive.

the conference will be hosted in collaboration with the New Mexico Department of Transportation, American Planning Association-New Mexico Chapter, New Mexico Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers, American Council of Engineering Companies New Mexico, Associated Contractors of New Mexico and Federal Highway Administration- New Mexico Division

The conference will offer professional development credit hours for attending professional engineers. It will be held at the Las Cruces Convention Center in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Registration is $100 for the early bird rate, $85 for government employees or groups and $35 for college students.
