Why Give

Endowed Chairs and Professorships

Excellent faculty is the cornerstone of every university and NMSU is no exception. The College of Engineering takes great pride in the exceptional faculty that we have attracted over the years and are working to establish endowed chairs and professorships in each of the engineering departments as a means of rewarding this excellence as well as attracting pre-eminent teachers and researchers from throughout the country.  Earnings from endowed chairs and professorships provide funding for salaries, research and equipment well above and beyond what normal university resources can provide. Endowing Chairs and Professorships is a great way to leave a named legacy for yourself or a loved one while helping the College of Engineering secure continued support for excellence in teaching and research. The minimum for establishing an endowment is $1,000,000 for a chair and $250,000 for a professorship.

Endowed Scholarships

The College of Engineering is working to enhance scholarship opportunities for bright young students that have chosen to begin and/or continue their educational careers at NMSU. Earnings from endowed scholarships provide a continual legacy to maintaining access to higher education for those that might not be able to attend college otherwise, rewards academic excellence, and can be used to attract national merit scholars from around the country. Currently, tuition and fees average $2000 per semester. Your gift towards a permanent scholarship endowment will help students remain focused on their degree programs. A scholarship can make a year or more difference in the completion rate of a student and ensures professionals will enter the workforce in a timely manner. Endowed Scholarships can be established with a minimum contribution of $10,000 payable over five years.

Information on existing scholarships administered by the College of Engineering can be accessed at College and Departmental Scholarships.

Facility Naming Opportunities*

Naming of the respective engineering departments and prominent facilities within the College of Engineering at New Mexico State provides a unique opportunity to align our commitment to excellence with an individual or corporate entity that unwaveringly exemplifies these qualities through ethics, professionalism and personal/corporate integrity. A naming endowment of this nature brings more than prestige. Through association, named engineering departments and associated facilities reflect the achievements and ideals of their namesakes. As a part of the university-wide comprehensive campaign, the College of Engineering invites individuals and corporate entities to consider naming a department or facility as a tribute to excellence that will set the standard for future generations. For more information on naming opportunities within the College of Engineering , contact Patricia Sullivan, Assistant Dean at patsulli@nmsu.edu .

*Naming of departments and facilities are subject to approval by the NMSU President and Board of Regents'.
