Office of Engineering Research Symposium

The Office of Engineering Research (OER) is organizing a research symposium on Jan. 11 and Jan. 12, 2018 (the week before the semester starts and when faculty report for spring semester) from 1-4pm each day. The purpose of the symposium is to inform faculty of active research in the college in order to initiate and promote collaborative, inter-disciplinary work. All faculty are invited to give a 15 minute introduction to their research.  This symposium will serve as a prelude to OER’s mini-grant application (due Jan. 31) and which makes new research collaborations across engineering departments a priority.

I have read many of your research papers and proposal summaries this year and I continue to be impressed at the breadth and depth of research in the college.  I believe there are opportunities for increasing research collaborations within the college (and university), however, understanding what our engineering colleagues are exactly working on and where they could use help presents challenges possibly due to our traditional organizational structure. We hope that this symposium can help foster a more collaborative and creative environment and builds a structure for a better understanding of the college’s research portfolio.

Please consider attending this symposium.  For more information and registration, please visit
