The beautiful photos of NMSU Civil Engineering Professor Nirmala Khandan is featured in the museum’s arts corridor from August 18 through December 3. The opening reception, which is free to the public and includes refreshments, is 5-7 p.m. on August 24. The show features 32 images by the Las Cruces photographer that capture a variety of birds in their natural habitats. Some of the birds are residents of the region and some are migrants. Khandan’s photographs aim to bring awareness of the diversity and beauty of the local avian life, as well as the importance of habitat.
