George W. Lucky

George W. Lucky was born in Dallas Texas in 1923. He attended Oklahoma A&M College (now Oklahoma State University ) where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in electrical engineering in 1944.

Dr. Lucky was sent to the Pacific Fleet in 1944. After active duty, Dr. Lucky worked in the Engineering Department of Southwestern Bell in Dallas, Texas until 1956 at which time he returned to Oklahoma State University to get his Master of Science in 1960 and his Ph.D. in 1965.

In the fall of 1964, Lucky joined the faculty of New Mexico State University in the Department of Electrical Engineering where he served until his retirement in July 1987.

He has received the Teacher of the Year award in 1971 and in 1986. He was also awarded the Donald C. Roush Award for Teaching Excellence for the College of Engineering in 1985.
